Plant Growing Zones
The United States are broken into zones to better explain what herbs, flowers, and crops should be planted in each region by season.
When you purchase seeds for any herb, most seed packets will be accompanied with their zone information. Look up the zone you’re in and it will tell you when to plant the herb in your region - and when you can expect to be able to harvest it. These zones don’t apply to growing herbs indoors.
The number in the map above is the updated zone number for your region. Zones are also defined by A and B. If you live in zone 6, you can either live in Zone 6A or 6B. These differences can make a difference in your growing seasons. To figure out your exact zone, you can visit the USDA website, enter your zip code, and get a confirmation of your zone.
